A WOMAN has been charged with attempted murder after a man suffered serious injuries following a seaside town attack.

Essex Police officers were called to an address in Gilders Way, in Clacton, at about 6.45pm on Saturday following reports of an assault.

The victim, a 38-year-old man, was taken to hospital by air ambulance and remains in a critical condition, the police has confirmed.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested at the scene in connection with the attack before being questioned in custody.

Lucinda Fyfield, 36, of Gilders Way, Clacton, has now been charged with attempted murder.

She was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Essex Police has now asked anyone who may have information linked to the assault to contact the force as soon as possible.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Officers are still in the area of Gilders Way as we continue our enquiries.

“We appreciate your cooperation while we’re working in Clacton and will share further updates in due course.

"We would still like to hear from any members of the public that have information about this incident.

“Please contact us quoting incident number 1132 of Saturday, May 11.”

The latest attack in Clacton comes less than a month after a previous serious assault which saw a man stabbed near Clacton Pier during the early hours of April 19.

The victim was taken to hospital in a stable condition, where he received treatment, before a 28-year-old man from London was questioned by police on suspicion of affray.
