Frank's Motorcycles was founded by Jon Stevens, who named the business for his father after he died to keep Frank’s charitable spirit alive.

Since August 2022, Frank’s Motorcycles has offered motorcycles, servicing, clothes, and parts, as well as a safe space for men to enjoy “an ear to talk to, a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to go out for a blast” with.

Jim Smith, who provides showroom support for Frank’s Motorcycles after 35 years in the ambulance services, shared his excitement for the event.

He said: “The whole firm really is Jon’s vision and passion.

“We want to provide for people the best experience we possibly can, whether it’s when buying motorcycles, having their bikes serviced, or more social events.”

Frank’s Motorcycles runs bike night meetings on the last Tuesday of every month (with the next on May 28) which are supported by sometimes 200 motorcycles at a time, as well as a café which offers breakfast and lunch, including 125cc, 600cc, and 1000cc Full English meals.

“We’ve also had quiz nights, go karting, and track days,” Jim added.

“We try and provide a focal point for the motorcycle community in Colchester.

“Jon has set about creating a community around the bike shop. That’s really the most important thing to him: to make it as friendly and comfortable as possible for people to improve their mental health and have company.

“We’ve had people that have come in as customers who are now friends, who found the place invaluable for somewhere to go.”
