COLCHESTER United Women head coach Simon King says winning the double in their first season is a 'massive achievement'.

The U's thrashed Southminster United 6-0 to lift the Essex Women's League Cup, adding it to their Essex Women's division two title won last week.

It has been a memorable season for Colchester, who were formed last summer.

King said: "I am immensely proud of each player's dedication, resilience, and spirit.

"Together, today we have turned a vision into reality.

"To win the double in our first season is a massive achievement.

"We hope next season we can continue our journey to greater heights and look forward to the challenges ahead."
