A RISING artist is so “excited” to be playing the UK’s most culturally significant music festival next month.
Bridget Clegg, 22, is a Colchester-based artist who crafts huge sounding songs under the moniker, Bridget.
The songwriter has distinctive vocals and pens infectious grunge and punk-fuelled tracks, and released her debut EP, Damage Reversal, in February.
Now, Bridget is gearing up to perform at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, the iconic UK music festival in Somerset, run by Michael and Emily Eavis, which is taking place from June 26 to June 30.
Headliners include Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA, and Shania Twain, who will all take to the renowned Pyramid Stage.
Bridget only found out a few weeks ago that she would be playing Glastonbury for the first time at the Park Stage’s Bimble Inn, and it’s still a surreal feeling.
She said: “I firstly just re-read the email about 20 times or so...just in case I read it wrong.
“I just keep smiling when I randomly remember that I am playing.
“I am so excited to share the special moment at a stage I love and play and experience as much music as I can over the weekend.”
The emerging artist is building a name for herself thanks to her wild live shows, and last year she earned a slot with The Bimble Inn, a solar powered music venue, at Beautiful Days Festival.
According to Bridget, she was invited to Glastonbury by Bimble Inn following that “killer show”.
She had applied for the emerging talent competition on Glastonbury Festival’s website but alas was not successful, so she believes the power of playing live shows and word of mouth are “more powerful ways of getting scouted for shows”.
This will not only be Bridget’s first time attending Glastonbury as a performer but also as a fan.
The Park Stage’s main stage will have the likes of Fontaines D.C., Peggy Gou, and London Grammar headline.
Whilst at the festival, Bridget is excited to catch PJ Harvey, Little Simz, Fontaines D.C, Kim Gordon and more live.
Attendees will be able to catch Bridget perform at The Bimble Inn on the evening of June 27.
Bridget added: “I'm preparing just as I would for any show, exercise, eating, sleeping, drinking lots of water and panicking a little in case I forget any important things at home when I start packing.”
The talented artist is extremely grateful for the opportunity and has offered some advice to anyone else wanting to pursue their dreams.
She said: “The opportunity to play at Glastonbury is overwhelming, in a brilliant way.
“It's so special because it signifies that my efforts are paying off.
“Also, if you want to get something done, follow a dream, big or small, Just start.
“Don’t wait around for anyone.”
