COLCHESTER truly comes alive in the summertime, not least due to the fact there is always a great selection of activities to enjoy.

So, whether you are a family with four children or a young couple looking for some fun, here are five great events happening in the city this year. 

Hospital Radio Fun Day

Hospital Radio Colchester, which is a charity, has been about for 60 years.

It will host its annual fun day in Castle Park for families this bank holiday weekend.

It will provide constant entertainment for many, not least youngsters who will be overjoyed by rides, attractions, stalls and plenty of food and drink.

Tickets are £5 for adults and children go free.

Roman and Medieval Festival

Castle Park will host a fantastic weekend event on June 1 and 2, which will be packed full of roman and medieval fun.

Children will be mesmerised by the experience and be able to learn so much about Colchester’s history.

Tickets are priced at £10 per adult or £14 per adult for the full weekend of fun. Children aged 14 and under go free.

Castle Park Theatre – Macbeth

The return of Castle Park Theatre sees a showing of one of the most famous plays in history on the June 5 until July 6.

Shakespeare’s Macbeth will be showcased in Castle Park for all to enjoy in a brilliantly unique experience.

Ticket prices are £16 for standard and £14 for concessions.

Radio Gaga – Queen Tribute

Colchester will be host to a Queen tribute act this summer on June 16.

Global band Queen are known for their hits such as ‘Radio Gaga’, ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

Tickets are priced at £30 per person, with seat selection available upon purchase. Be sure to get your tickets before it’s too late.

Colchester School of Dance presents – ‘35’

A spectacular journey over the past 35 years of music and events, taking place on June 29.

The event will be a great night at Charter Hall and there will be two showings on the day, one starting at 2.30pm and the evening showing starting at 7pm.

Tickets for this event are priced at £17 for general admission and £14 for children under the age of 10.
