A MEDITERRANEAN style open air lounge is set to return to Colchester city centre.
Vacay Lounge and Bar at the Courtyard in Lion Walk Shopping Centre will welcome back punters this weekend.
The re-opening will be celebrated with performances from international DJ Darren Shambhala, along with other guests who will be performing on the Sunday.
The bar will also be showcasing the Euro 2024 tournament and Wimbledon, amongst other sporting events.
The bar is being launched in partnership with Essex Police and Colchester Business Improvement Division (BID) with a view of creating a safe space for those who attend with families.
The venue will give their customers a dynamic Latin south beaches theme which brings a vibrant energy to the heart of the city.
Centre manager, Martin Leatherdale said: “We are thrilled to bring the Vacay bar back to Colchester with a fresh and exciting concept.
“Our efforts are aimed at making Colchester a vibrant, modern city that respects and engages with its residents and communities in supporting the master plan for commercial success.
“Vacay places Colchester prominently on the map with leading cities boasting something very special, bringing social and community value to artists and organisations.”
On the menu at the bar will be a selection of Latin inspired cocktails and a Greek influence of food which will come from The Greek’s Kitchen.
To go alongside the eye-catching menu, there will be Latin American themed nights and dynamic music including reggaetón and salsa.
The bar looks to represent the Roman past of Colchester by blending it with Latin culture, creating a unique synergy that aims to highlight Colchester’s diverse cultural evolution.
The bar will be looking to incorporate more of the same from last year, by raising thousands of pounds for charities including the NSPCC and Royal British Legion.
Chief executive officer of Colchester BID, Sam Good said: “To evolve as a city centre, it is crucial to have versatile spaces like this courtyard. Its ability to serve all ages and meet diverse needs is fantastic.
“The Courtyard is a significant economic boost, encouraging visitors to increase their dwell time, using surrounding retail shops, leisure premises and community spaces.”
