A CRITICALLY acclaimed new opera company Wild Arts is delighted to return to the Malvern Festival Theatre this June in Layer Marney.

The five-day festival will take place in Layer Marney Tower featuring a new production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

‘The Magic Flute’ opera will be fully staged, in costume, and sung in English with a cast of “exceptional singers” alongside a chamber orchestra of 10 musicians.

The plot of the opera is that in a “dream-like world”, Prince Tamino falls in love with Pamina, the kidnapped daughter of the Queen of the Night, and must rescue Pamina while understanding the world of darkness and light.

The Magic Flute is directed by James Hurley, designed by Sophie Lincoln, and conducted by Orlando Jopling.

Wild Arts, founded in 2022, aims to make music fresh, enjoyable, and available to all while also having the long-term goal of creating a “truly green opera house and performance space”.

This staged summer production followed The Elixir of Love in 2023, and the Cosi fan tutte in 2022, the former of which being given 5 stars by Opera Now and 4 stars by The Guardian.

Tickets for each show cost £45, with there being four performances starting on June 18 and ending on June 23.
