A busy road between Colchester and Tiptree has been partially blocked following an incident which had a man sent to hospital.
Maldon Road has been partially blocked and struggles with heavy traffic in both directions after a crash near Blind Lane.
The incident was first reported this morning at around 6.19am and traffic has not yet eased.
Travellers are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes for their journeys.
An East of England Ambulance spokesman said: "One ambulance was sent to the B1022 near Layer Marney, Colchester this morning following reports of a road traffic collision.
"One man was transported to Colchester General Hospital for further assessment and care."
