DAVE Challinor says Jayden Fevrier can be a 'real asset' for Stockport County after snapping him up from Colchester United.

Fevrier has signed a three-year deal with an option for a further year with the Hatters, after joining them from the U’s for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old had a year remaining on his Colchester contract and follows Jay Mingi in leaving the U's and joining Stockport, this summer.

Hatters boss Challinor told the club's website: “We are absolutely delighted to have been able to bring Jayden to the football club.

"A big thanks to Mark for his backing in what is a real investment on his behalf.

“Jayden’s profile is one that we tried to get last summer but weren’t able to get the right one.

"Not only do we feel we have the right one now but he is our player, a young one that we can definitely improve and will become a real asset for the club.

“He already has the pace, power and dribbling ability to cause real problems; it’s our job to refine that and get him into areas on the pitch where he can hurt defenders and add the one thing missing from his game which is numbers around goals and goal involvements, something that we had success with last season with Louie on the left hand side.

Gazette:

“Jayden has the ability to play anywhere across the front line but spent most of last season in a wing back role which, although he does it very well, probably prevented the amount of goal scoring moments he had.

"Jayden is hugely motivated to improve and is very analytical about his game, which we all feel are the characteristics that can absolutely thrive in our environment.

“In the times we’ve met him, we can all see not only how driven he is but most importantly how excited he is to be coming into the club and looking forward to playing at Edgeley Park.

"I’m sure he’ll be a big hit with our supporters as his profile will excite and get fans off their seats whilst still allowing us to be a front foot, high intensity team.

"We are all looking forward to helping him in this next part of his career and I know he’ll get a great welcome.”

Fevrier was one of Colchester's top players in the 2023-24 campaign, helping him secure the club's Young Player of the Year award.

He featured in all but two of Colchester’s matches in League Two and started 40 of them, playing as both a winger and a wing-back.

Stockport director of football Simon Wilson told the club's website: “We welcome Jayden to Stockport County in what is a really exciting transfer for us.

“When we’ve reflected on the needs of the next level, and the ones above that – we know that a clear requirement is pace and power.

"Jayden has this in spades and as such there are very few limitations to his career.

“We are getting him at a great age and great moment.

"It’s a long-term contract and we expect to be able to benefit from the progression he can make.

"He is another young, exciting, front foot player and someone we think can get Edgeley Park off its seat.

"He has come in determined to make an impact with us and we are really looking forward to working with him over the coming years.”
