FORMER Colchester United defender Ronny Nelson has a new club.

The 20-year-old, who was released by the U's at the end of last season, has signed for National League South side Tonbridge Angels.

Nelson started out in Gillinghamโ€™s academy before moving to Leicester City where he was a regular in the Foxesโ€™ Under-21 Premier League Two squad.

He made two Football League Trophy appearances for the Foxes before joining Colchester, last June.

Tonbridge manager Jay Saunders told the club's website: โ€œRonny is another exciting addition to the squad, heโ€™s a young lad but with a good presence at 6'5'.

"I believe he will come in and be a really good addition to us on the left hand side.

"Iโ€™ve been really impressed every time Iโ€™ve watched him play and delighted to get him onboard and hopefully help us have a solid defence this year.โ€

Nelson was one of a number of players released by Colchester, at the end of last season.
