Colchester will mark the King's birthday on June 15 with the public being invited to watch gunners and musicians celebrate the occasion.
The collaboration is between the guns of G Parachute Battery Mercer’s Troop, 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, and a brass ensemble from the British Army Band Colchester.
The two groups are set to entertain onlookers in the Lower Castle Park with a 21-gun Royal Salute and live music.
The Royal Salute will be fired by a battery of three guns at noon, with music from 11.15am.
The Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Jennifer Tolhurst, will be the inspecting officer, acting as the King’s representative for the day's proceedings.
The guns set to fire are 105mm Light Guns which are used by seven Para RHA for its operational role with 16 Air Assault Brigade and can be used in operations across the world at a moment’s notice.
Members of the public will have a further opportunity to witness Colchester’s airborne soldiers on display at the 16 Air Assault Brigade and Colchester Garrison Show on June 29 at Abbey Field.
