AN inquest into the death of two friends from Dovercourt has heard they died in a quad bike crash while on holiday.

Matthew Steward and Cory Dove, both 26, died while on a family holiday in Turkey on May 14.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the friends heard they died from their wounds in the early hours of that day.

Senior coroner for Essex, Lincoln Brookes, opened and adjourned the proceedings on June 12 until February 2025 following an investigation by Turkish authorities.

The coroner’s hearing was told the friends were involved in a “road traffic collision with another vehicle” while Mr Dove was driving and Mr Steward was a passenger.

Matthew leaves behind three children, Leo, Ruby, and Roman, as well as his twin brother, James.

A fundraiser has been organised by Matthew Steward’s family to raise money for his funeral.

It reads: “After funeral and legal expenses in Turkey that we’ve had to find, we are looking for a little bit of help to have a headstone put down for the children to visit in Dovercourt Cemetery.

"We will be much appreciated to anyone who can contribute towards this at this heartbreaking time for me and my family."
