AN annual day of fun is expecting thousands of visitors as it returns to Wivenhoe for another year.

The Wivenhoe Town Regatta is back in the town next weekend with a variety of events on offer.

On the day, there will be watersports, stalls and refreshments, as well as a pirate trail, pram race, paddling parade, and the popular Great Wivenhoe Raft Race.

The raft race pits teams against each other to create their own raft and stay afloat for the duration of the course.

Winners will receive a case of beers and the Raft Race Shovel prize.

The Paddle Parade will celebrate paddlesports and is open to kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards.

More information can be found at the Zac Brightmore Paddle Parade Facebook page.

The Pram Race sees competitors race along a course around lower Wivenhoe and drink half a pint of beer or soft drink at each stop along the way.

As well as all other events, there will also be a brass band and Punch and Judy shows.

The organisers work with the Wivenhoe Sailing Club to ensure a joint town effort and are supported by generous sponsors and partners.

This year’s regatta will be held on Saturday, June 22.
