AN iconic Indie Rock band has been announced as the latest act to be performing at an upcoming festival in Colchester.

Lower Castle Park will be welcoming back the Sausage and Cider Festival in July.

Bosses have announced music group Scouting For Girls will be performing at the event.

With more than two million album sales, four Brit Award nominations, an Ivor Novello nomination and four top ten singles, the band will be bringing all the classics such as She’s So Lovely and Heartbeat.

Other confirmed acts are The Feeling, ABBA Fever, The Brightside Killers, Sham Fender, Attic Monkeys and Oasis 96 - with more yet to be announced.

The event is expected to be the biggest yet, with more than 30 cider flavours, alongside craft beer, spirits, wine, cocktails and soft drinks.

There will also be more than 20 sausage flavours ranging from maple and chilli, vegetarian and cheese, as well as a huge festival market, on-stage sausage eating contests and six-round chilli eating competitions.

Lee Fudge, marketing manager for the Sausage and Cider Festival, said: “We are delighted to have Scouting for Girls at Sausage and Cider Festival Colchester for a huge feel-good event.

"Festival goers can expect epic entertainment, food, drink and even an extra stage for the little ones to enjoy.

"Following this exciting act announcement tickets will sell out quickly."

The Sausage and Cider Festival will be on July 13.

Due to high demand, the event will be opening early at noon and will run until 11pm.

Under 18’s must be accompanied by someone over the age of 21. No more than three under 18’s can be accompanied by the same 21-year-old.
