TWO hustings events are taking place in Colchester ahead of the upcoming General Election.
The events, which will see the MP candidates for the city debate one another and take questions from members of a live audience, are taking place at the Mercury Theatre and Essex University.
Standing this year are Pam Cox (Lab), James Cracknell (Con), Martin Goss (Lib Dem), Terrence Longstaff (Reform UK) and Sara Ruth (Grn).
The hustings take place on Thursday, June 20, at 8pm.
Tickets are sold out for the event, with many Colchester residents wanting to know what each candidate has planned if elected as Colchester’s MP.
The event is expected to go on for around 90 minutes and there will be no interval.
Essex University will also be staging a Hustings event on Monday, June 24 from 6pm to 8pm, inside the Ivor Crewe Lecture Hall.
A spokesman said: "Join us campus to hear from the local candidates in the upcoming general election.
"Professor John Bartle, from the Department of Government, will host a panel featuring candidates for the Colchester constituency.
"This event provides a fantastic opportunity to hear the candidates' views on important issues and ask them any pressing questions you have."
Questions from the audience should be submitted in advance via the booking form.
