Pell spent three years at the U's between 2018 and 2021, making 89 league and cup appearances for them and helping them reach the League Two play-offs and the Carabao Cup quarter-finals under John McGreal, in the 2019-2020 season.
Since leaving Colchester, midfielder Pell has played for Accrington Stanley and most recently, AFC Wimbledon.
He was released by the Dons at the end of last season and has now become Cheltenham's their first signing, ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
