A JACKET potato may not be everyone's favourite meal, but after going to this Colchester shop, your opinion might be changed.
As you may have noticed from my previous reviews, I am a huge fan of jacket potatoes so I was very excited to be eating at a place which specialises in my favourite food.
Lots of people say a jacket is a boring meal, however, with a place like Potato Hut, the customisability and food quality will leave you wanting more.
The venue in Lion Walk is quaint and cosy but it has a lot more than potatoes on offer.
There are also pizzas, sandwiches and many more lunch-like items for sale.
The process of ordering a jacket potato is very similar to Subway and proves to be a very customisable experience.
I opted for a tuna mayo and cheese potato with lettuce, cucumber, onions and olives, which goes to show you really can put whatever you want on these potatoes.
There were so many vegetables and fillings to choose from and you can also decide whether or not to have the cheese melted.
My partner ordered a jacket potato with melted cheese and various other vegetables.
We sat outside in the summer sun, underneath some bright yellow umbrellas.
After I had finished the delicious fillings I chose, I started on the jacket skin and the wooden fork snapped right in half!
Now that may have been down to my cutlery incompetency or it might have been down to my own incredible strength, but either way, finding a replacement fork was easy, thanks to the pot near the till.
I enjoyed the rest of my jacket.
I will most definitely be coming back to Potato Hut, especially during the summer, to enjoy the outside seating, incredible customisable food and overall lovely atmosphere.
