MANY pub-goers might have the Wetherspoons app on hand – especially to order drinks and food from your table.
But there is another app which can help you find great places to drink in Colchester.
Neverspoons shows pubs, breweries, and bottle shops across the country selected by independent or chain status.
Here are five ‘alternative pints’ as found on Neverspoons:
Twister’s Bar
This venue is an alternative music night spot which serves beer as well as cocktails.
This North Hill venue hosts events such as their ‘Indie Party’ which has DJ and dancing.
There is also table service at their enclosed heated beer garden.

The Purple Dog is one of the oldest pubs in Colchester, being established in 1647.
Located on Eld Lane in the city centre, it is also a restaurant with breakfast, dinner, brunch, and Sunday roast options all being available.
The Fox and Fiddler
Located on St John’s Street, this independent pub has Sky Sports, a juke box, and pool table.
There are also regular live music events each month, typically at the weekend.

It has cocktail deals such as 2 for £15 regularly and is open Thursday to Saturday.
