AL-AMIN Kazeem has signed for St Patrick's Athletic on a 'multi-year deal' after turning down a contract offer from Colchester United.

The 22-year-old left-back turned down the chance to join Galway United, where he has spent the last five months on loan from the U's.

Kazeem was offered a new deal by the SSE Airtricity League of Ireland side but has decided to join Dublin-based St Patrick's.

Kazeem, who made 20 appearances during his time at Galway, was offered a new contract by Colchester, at the end of last season.

He rejected the chance to sign a fresh deal, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

In a statement, Galway said: 'Galway United can confirm that Al-Amin Kazeem has departed the club.

'Al-Amin’s loan agreement from Colchester United concluded on June 30th, coinciding with the end of his contract with Colchester.

'We met with Al-Amin’s representatives and offered him a contract.

'The player himself, stated whilst he enjoyed his time with Galway United, he indicated that he was moving on.'

Kazeem made 14 league and cup first-team appearances for Colchester in the first half of last season, prior to joining Galway on loan.

He experienced something of a frustrating campaign prior to leaving on loan, having been hindered by injury.

The former Maldon and Tiptree loanee, whose last senior Colchester appearance was against AFC Wimbledon last December, missed three months of the season due to an ankle injury.

Kazeem played 38 times for the U's since being handed his senior debut by Wayne Brown in August 2022.

Speaking last month, Colchester boss Danny Cowley said Kazeem is a player with plenty of potential.

Cowley said: “Al-Amin has wonderful athleticism and pace to burn.

“The loan in Ireland has been really good for him and given him regular game time.

“Sometimes, the game has to be your teacher and I think that was what was needed for Al."
