Colchester much loved carnival and fair will be returning to the city streets full of flair next week.

The carnival will take to the historic city streets on July 13, with 45 communities representing 25 nationalities.

Processions will begin at 12.45pm from Sir Isaac's Walk via Jumbo, before marching along Head Street and ending the journey at Firstsite.

The procession will be a colourful and lively display of cultural diversity accompanied by music and dance performances, including a Nepalese Band.

Udaibahadur Gurung, director of the event, said: "We are thrilled to announce that our upcoming carnival, organized by the Colchester Diverse Communities Network, will feature many exciting activities and events for everyone to enjoy.

"The carnival celebrates the diversity that makes our community so unique. We hope you will come out and join us in this festive and joyful event. We are excited to see you."

This year's theme is Together We Shine and the carnival focuses on the unique cultures and talents within the Colchester community.

In addition to live music and dance performances, the carnival will also feature a variety of stalls selling a range of cultural items and delicious food, ready by noon.

Berrifield Lawn, at Firstsite, will be transformed into a bustling marketplace where festival-goers can browse and purchase unique and beautiful items from vendors representing different cultures worldwide.

There will be something for everyone, from clothing and jewellery to arts and crafts.

Food stalls will also line the pathways with samples of delicious dishes from different countries and cultures.

There will be traditional curries and stir-fries to mouth-watering desserts, snacks, fish and chips, burgers, and ice cream.

The entertainment will continue in the afternoon at Berrifield Lawn, where more live music, dance performances, and other fun activities can all be enjoyed.

Entry to the event is entirely free.
