A TIPTREE man previously jailed for driving the wrong way on the A12 has appeared in court charged with further driving offences.

Gregory Taylor was jailed in November 2022 and banned from driving for four years after he led police on a high-speed chase before crashing at the side of the road.

The defendant was back in court on Monday after he admitted driving without insurance and driving whilst disqualified.

Taylor, of Willow Walk, Tiptree, was due to be sentenced but Her Honour Judge Emma Peters told Ipswich Crown Court the defendant was also due before magistrates in Basildon to face further charges of drug driving.

She told the court she would sentence Taylor, 37, later this month so she could consider all the charges in one hearing.

She said: “He has been charged with other matters including two counts of drug driving and is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on July 18 for those.

“It seems the best thing to do is for the prosecution at the magistrates’ court to let the court know there are other matters which are to be committed to the crown court here.”

Addressing Taylor, she said: “You can go back downstairs and you will be remanded in custody as before.”

Taylor will be sentenced later this month.
