An emerging Colchester rapper is set to release a new double-album project which features a widely recognised American rapper with more than 13 million followers.

Felix Cochez performs under the moniker ' Young Felc', and is releasing his two new records - Planet Felc Volume One and Planet Felc Volume Two - on July 12 and July 26.

The ambitious two-album project has 11 songs on the first record which will traverse psychedelic, alternative and hip-hop influences, whilst the 12 tracks on the second album will focus on punk and trap.

Felix, 17, who has finished his first year of music technology at Colchester Institute, recorded more than 125 songs in his home studio earlier this year with the producer 4Freedom.

Some 23 songs were selected for the double album, which Felix mixed and mastered himself.

Remarkably, Felix has secured a feature from rapper The Game, who was discovered by the influential record producer and artist Dr Dre in 2004.

The Game will feature on Felix’s track World Goes Round on Planet Felc Volume Two.

Since May, Felix has worked with Las Vegas-based rapper Sicario, who will also appear on World Goes Round, and it was through him that The Game became involved.

Felix said: “Sicario and I started working together. He has connections with Rick Ross and others. He said to me, ‘Would you be down to do a song with The Game?'

“I was thinking is this real or not, but he sent me a contract.

“They sent me The Games’ vocal stems and backing track.

“It feels mental. It is very rare you see a big American rapper working with a new UK rapper.

"The Game is someone I used to listen to quite a bit. I loved his album The Documentary.”

The idea for the Planet Felc double album came after a conversation with fellow musical artist Sensor.red, in December.

This follows the release of Felix’s first album Cosmos & Melodies last year.

He said: “I’m quite excited because I believe this is my best work yet.

"It’s a bit out of my comfort zone. It’s from the heart, and I think people like that.”

Moving forward, Young Felc will headline the Queen Street Brewhouse, in Colchester, on August 10, and will be opening the Art of The Roadz Part Two event at the Minories on August 25.

The event will feature an appearance from the popular rapper, Big Narstie.

Felix said: “Big Narstie is a legend. To see my name on the same line-up, is amazing.

“I get to see him and perform as well. It is two fun things in one night.”
