A group of Colchester Sixth Form students will host an art exhibition this month in memory of their late art teacher.
The exhibition, ‘Our Lovely Mess’, will take place from July 17 to 30, at Cuckoo Farm studios in Colchester.
It aims to provide an opportunity to promote young talents in the city and surrounding area.
The group hosting the exhibition are friends and students that have been working side by side for the past two years and will soon receive their A-Level qualifications from The Sixth Form College.
The event will be a final and ‘perfect’ opportunity for the students to collaborate, celebrating their hard work and efforts before parting ways for university and further education.
As well as this, the students will use the event to pay tribute to their late art teacher, 58-year-old Mark Griffin-Sherwood, who sadly passed away last month.
“This exhibition has a deeper and even more personal meaning to all of us now," said pupil Caitlin Fraser.
“We want to conduct the event as a tribute to our teacher and all the Sixth Form Collage has done for us."
As well as the students, a few artists who have not attended Colchester’s Sixth Form will be exhibiting, exploring the theme of ‘youth’ and what being creative means to young artists.
A pop-up merchandise stall will be set up in the gallery, with posters, prints, button badges and zines available for purchase.
