A WOMAN who tried to avoid a £32.90 train fare has been ordered to pay more than £500.

Camelia Balan was stopped by Greater Anglia staff in Stratford in November last year for not having a valid train ticket.

The matter was brought before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court last month where Balan, who did not attend the hearing, was found guilty.

Balan, 47, of Alexandra Road in Colchester, was ordered to repay the £32.90 train fare as well as further costs of £487.

She must pay the £515.90 by Friday, July 26.
