DANNY Cowley believes the influx of promotion winners Colchester United have added to their squad can be a ‘powerful thing’.
Summer signings Alex Woodyard, Harry Anderson, Ben Goodliffe, Lyle Taylor, Rob Hunt and JK Gordon have all tasted promotion at their former clubs, earlier in their careers.
Colchester are hoping to challenge at the top end of the League Two table in the 2024-25 campaign, following four successive seasons of struggle.

And U’s head coach Cowley feels bringing in players who have tasted success at the right end of the table can be an important factor, heading into a brand new campaign.
Cowley said: “It’s always a consideration.
“Winning is a skill and it’s good to find boys that have won, that are used to winning, that like to win and that want to win.
“We were adding it up the other day, the amount of promotions that we’ve had in the group.
“Particularly at this level, I do think it’s a powerful thing.
“Once you’ve lived a promotion, you know what it takes and my feeling is that the enjoyment you get encourages you and enthuses you to want more.”
Colchester play their first pre-season friendly of the summer on Saturday when they travel to play Pitching In Isthmian League division north side Maldon and Tiptree at Park Drive, kick-off 3pm.
Colchester have agreed a new shirt sponsorship deal with recruitment technology firm HotLizard, ahead of the new season.
