HUNDREDS of people gathered to celebrate Colchester’s diversity and vibrancy at the city’s annual carnival on Saturday.

With community groups from across the city parading in front of large crowds down the High Street, Colchester Carnival produced a colourful spectacle of positivity to brighten the afternoon.

The event began at noon with a family fair at Firstsite where families could enjoy games, take part in crafts, and savour cuisines from an array of food stalls.

The parade then set off at 12.45pm from Sir Isaac’s Walk and headed down Head Street, Church Street, and the High Street where hundreds of people watched on to enjoy a display of the city’s rich tapestry.

A Nepalese band provided the soundtrack as the parade finished at Firstsite.

Here are some of the pictures from the day so far.
