Residents are being invited to a meeting about the two major road projects which will take place as part of plans to build thousands of homes on the Colchester and Tendring border.

Preparations are underway for the works on the Clingoe Hill segment of the new Colchester Rapid Transit System and the construction of the first phase of the new A1331 link road, which is scheduled to start in August.

Ahead of the works, residents are being welcomed to "meet the contractors" for the infrastructure projects, which are courtesy of a £99.9 million Housing Infrastructure Fund bid.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, from 3pm to 7pm at the Colchester Innovation Centre on Boundary Road, has been organised for residents to learn more about the plans.

Tom Cunningham said: "The new Tendring Colchester Borders Garden Community will provide a significant economic boost...but we have been absolutely resolute that this must be delivered in the right way."

The contractors, Milestone Infrastructure, will be expanding the A133 on Clingoe Hill and developing a new bus lane.

Enhancements are also planned for walking and cycling facilities.

Simultaneously, Octavius Infrastructure will commence work on a new roundabout to the east of the University of Essex as part of the first part of the works on the new A1331.
