A CAFÉ owner will stand trial charged with causing serious injury by careless driving after a car crash caused a motorcyclist to be taken to hospital.
Julie Goodson, 44, is accused of causing a traffic collision when she was driving a black Mercedes at a junction between Mersea Road and Colchester Road.
It is alleged Goodson, who runs Blackmore Tea Rooms in Ingatestone, pulled out in front of motorcyclist David Nohar on Friday, March 22.
Maria Ellis, prosecuting, said: “The motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries.
“He was taken to Colchester Hospital and then Addenbrooke's Hospital.
“He suffered a fracture to the hip socket.”
The collision also damaged Mr Nohar’s pelvis and caused an “abnormal upwards movement to the top of the thigh bone”.
Scans found multiple bone fragments and a collection of blood in the soft tissue of the pelvis, Mrs Ellis added.
Goodson, of the Green, Ingatestone, denied one charge of causing serious injury by careless driving and told magistrates she wanted the case to be heard before a jury.
The case will be brought before Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday, August 13.
