Colchester Council is launching a focus group to help guide the revamp of parks and playgrounds in the area.
The group aims to make sure facilities are suitable for all children and families in a bid to fulfil the council's aim to boost outdoor amenities.
The first focus group meeting will take place on August 10 at 10am at the Castle Park playground.
Council leisure boss Martin Goss said: "We are committed to making our playgrounds accessible and enjoyable for all children.
"The formation of this focus group is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
"We encourage community members with enthusiasm for inclusivity to join us in this important work."
This meeting, part of an ongoing consultation process, will focus on accessibility issues at the Castle Park playground.
The council is urging people from various sectors, especially those working with people with disabilities and other needs, to get involved in the focus group.
Annual focus group meetings will be in June or July, to fit with playground improvement plans.
Anyone interested in taking part in the group or attending the meeting should email parks@colchester.gov.uk.
