BRADLEY Ihionvien and Matt Jay were both on target as Colchester United drew with Wycombe Wanderers in a double header pre-season friendly.

Ihionvien and Jay were on target in the U's 2-1 victory in the second of two 60-minute behind-closed-doors games against the Chairboys, managed by former Colchester boss, Matt Bloomfield.

Colchester's new signings all featured apart from Lyle Taylor, who was absent from the squad while he and his partner welcomed a new baby.

Colchester had earlier been beaten 1-0 by the hosts, in the first match between the two sides at the Wycombe training ground in Harlington.

The U's started the first game brightly and Harry Anderson came close to scoring after ten minutes when he sliced an effort just over, after good work by Jack Payne.

Wycombe's winner in the first game came via an own goal on 21 minutes.

A cross by former U's loanee Beryly Lubala appeared to be bundled into the net by Dan Udoh, but was later confirmed as a Ben Goodliffe own goal.

The game was an open affair and Wycombe twice went close through David Wheeler, while Kieran Sadlier curled just wide for the hosts.

But Colchester took the lead when Will Greenidge's ball over the top saw Ihionvien lift the ball over the keeper.

Buoyed by the goal, the U's doubled their lead through Jay, who volleyed at the back post following an excellent cross by Oscar Thorn, who had linked up well with Mandela Egbo.
