A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after police were called to a bridge on the A12 last night, near Colchester.
Essex Police were called to concerns for the safety of a woman on a bridge over the A12 at around 10.25pm last night.
The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The A12 between Junction 29 and Junction 27 was temporarily closed, from 11.40pm last night, due to the incident, and was reopened this morning.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to concerns for the safety of a woman on a bridge over the A12 near Colchester at around 10.25pm on Saturday 20 July.
"A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"The road was closed for a short period."
