A CINEMA has confirmed an ongoing issue at its Colchester site is being fixed after apologising for the problem.

Odeon, in Head Street, will finally be having its escalator fixed.

It is understood it has been out of action for several weeks, with visitors having to use the staircase.

There is also an elevator for customers to use if needed.

A frustrated cinemagoer, who wishes to remain anonymous and visits the Colchester Odeon frequently, said: “This escalator has been out of action for as long as I can remember.

"Seeing it would always frustrate me as I pay for a monthly membership but clearly my money isn’t being put to maintain the cinema at all.

“So, it’s great to finally see work being undertaken to get it back up and running.”

A spokesman for Odeon said: “Odeon confirms work is currently underway to repair the escalators at its Colchester cinema.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to reassure guests that the cinema remains fully accessible via lift.”
