A MAN filmed himself sexually assaulting two females whilst they were asleep at his house, a court heard.

Michael Cotton is alleged to have to carried out the offences on two separate occasions in 2013 and 2018 at his home in Romford Close, Colchester.

A jury was sworn in at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday after Cotton, 55, denied two counts of sexual assault.

The court heard Cotton gave one of the alleged victims a foot massage in 2017, a year before the alleged sexual assault took place.

Michael Hillman, prosecuting, said: “She was in the house in early 2017.

“She was having a conversation with the defendant, and the defendant said to her he had recently taken a course in foot massage.

“He proceeded to massage her foot – she said she found this all a bit odd and felt uncomfortable.

“When she said ‘that’s enough’ the defendant took her feet to his mouth and she pulled her feet away.”

The following year, the woman was at the defendant’s address in Colchester with three others and recalled being “quite drunk”.

The jury heard how the woman went to bed and woke up the following morning “completely naked and without any bedclothes over her”.

Mr Hillman said: “She saw the defendant standing next to the bed. He sat down on a chair next to the bed, leant over and kissed her on the lips and put his tongue in her mouth.”

The court was told how the woman pretended to be asleep and recalled the defendant performing a sex act upon her.

Although she was “groggy” that day, the court was told how her recollection of the alleged incident became “became more and more vivid” over the following days.

Mr Hillman said: “She was shown by the police some images the defendant had recorded of her. She was, as you might expect, very upset.

“There were videos of her in bed, in the shower and going to the loo.”

The court also heard there was footage of Cotton sexually assaulting the woman, with the prosecution saying Cotton “refused to answer those questions” when they were put to him in a police interview.

The trial continues.
