RISING stars will have the opportunity to showcase their talent at a new competition in the city.
Colchester Has Talent is looking for singers, dancers, and other talents to show their unique skills to an audience.
Anyone aged between ten and 16 is welcome to join the competition and experience being on stage and earning applause from the judges and Colchester crowd.
Performances can be by single artists or duets only and each act must be no longer than two minutes.
Participation is free and participants can register online by August 8 at colchesterhastalent.com.
The selected contestants will be informed by August 9 and must be prepared to perform on August 11 at the Vaycay Bar in Lion Walk centre.
Martin Leatherdale, centre manager at Lion Walk, said: “Colchester has so many amazing young people and Colchester Has Talent is the chance for the very best performers, singers and entertainers to take to the stage.
“Expect singers, dancers and musicians that will really bring the house down, so these three afternoons in August are sure to be very special.
"If you have a talented young performer in your family, make sure they register now to get involved.
"And don’t miss the chance to come down and see the brightest young talent Colchester has to offer.”
Categories include Best Solo Performance, Best Duet Performance and Audience Choice Award with prizes to be won.
Segun Lawal, Colchester Has Talent organiser, added: “You can expect to see some very exciting performances as part of Colchester Has Talent.
"The local arts scene in and around Colchester really does have so much talent to showcase, and Colchester Has Talent provides the perfect platform for that talent to shine.
“I know there will be tough competition to make it through each round and all the way to the grand final on August 25th.
"The winners will have the chance to make their name as Colchester Has Talent winners, with some great prizes from sponsors also up for grabs.”
Colchester Has Talent will take place at the Vacay Bar in Colchester’s Lion Walk Shopping Centre, each Sunday from 1pm to 3pm on August 11, 18, and 25.
