COLCHESTER's Anti Loo Roll Festival is back for 2024 and boasting an exciting line up of tribute acts to entertain crowds.
The Anti Loo Roll Festival has exploded from an end of lockdown celebration to an annual weekend of music, fun and laughter in Lower Castle Park.
In 2023, the festival won both Essex Festival of the Year and East Anglian Festival of the Year, an achievement that founder Peter Dutch is “absolutely amazed by.”
Peter, the founder and CEO of Anti Loo Roll Brigade CIC, said: “When we started the Anti Loo Roll Brigade, there was no endgame, it was just set up to help people.
“Building the festival up from scratch is no easy feat, but the fact we’ve built it from nothing to a place of safety and comfort for families to enjoy themselves is something I’m really, really proud of.”
This year’s line-up includes tribute band Take This, Rick Parfitt Junior, Samantha Harvey, The Moochers, FIVE, and the Stereophonies.
Families are welcome to bring soft drinks and their own food, as Peter wants to make the festival “as affordable and accessible” as he can.
Once they’re inside the festival venue, kids can enjoy free bouncy castles, superheroes, dinosaurs, magic shows and circus skills.
Peter added: “We want people in Colchester to get behind it because it’s a local festival by local people.
“Everyone donates their time for free, and it’s to try and secure long-term help for children in our therapy centre.”
The Anti Loo Roll Brigade was integral in the Colchester community during the pandemic, providing services for education, prescription delivery, food, PPE, and so much more.
It has since taken over the Lakelands Centre in Stanway, where it continued to give back to the community.
Money will be going towards the charity's work helping youngsters across the city.
Peter said: “This festival isn’t just a party. If people support us, we can help sustain long term health for local children.”
With all the early bird tickets sold out, adults’ tickets are £16.20 for Friday and £30.78 for Saturday.
Teenagers aged 13 to 17 go for £8.10 Friday and £16.20 Saturday.
Weekend tickets are £41.58 for adults and £21.60 for teens.
Kids under 12 go free.
The festival is on September 13 and 14.
