A POWER outage is currently affecting residents in the CO1 2 postcode which covers streets near Colchester's city centre.
The UK Power Networks (UKPN) website confirms that an unplanned outage was reported at around 8.30am today, July 27.
As UKPN did not know the outage was going to happen it was not able to give "advanced notice".
Over three properties have been affected in the CO1 2 postcode, and the business has received four calls from customers on this outage so far.
An update on the UKPN website states that a fault has occurred "on an underground electricity cable affecting the local area".
UKPN may have to "dig up the road to carry out repairs".
UKPN's website has not specified if only one road has been affected in the CO1 2 area.
It is hoped power will be restored to the area between 12pm and 1pm.
UKPN is investigating the outage and is working to fix it as soon as possible.
The Gazette has contacted UKPN for a statement.
