ONLINE giant Amazon has launched a probe after a Colchester couple claimed a delivery driver dumped human waste in their wheelie bin.

James Smith, 27, and his partner Emily Edwards, 27, who live in South Colchester say they discovered a bag with urine and faeces in their wheelie bin last week.

Bemused at how the bag got there the couple checked their front-door camera footage.

They say they were “completely shocked” to see an Amazon delivery driver holding what they claim was the "exact same bag".

The video shows the driver take a black bag out of their van before they disappear from view.

The driver then reappears before getting in the van and driving off in the incident on July 24.

Emily said after triple bagging it and using bleach, that there was still “flies surrounding the bin”.

The couple said you could still smell the bag of waste up until it was collected six days later on bin day.

The couple said they attempted to ring Amazon but found it difficult to find a dedicated complaints number.

James then cancelled his Amazon Prime, which includes TV and film, on the same day adding: “It was the only thing I could do at the time, as I couldn’t get through to anyone to report it."

While trying to find another way to report it, James found “pages and pages” of similar experiences on social media including people reportedly experiencing the same thing.

James said, “We saw quite a lot of it online and it needs to be looked into quite clearly.

“I understand it is a roadside job and they have a lot of deliveries to make but it is not acceptable.

“Ultimately, they are wearing their uniform, driving their Amazon van, so Amazon should have responsibility for them."

In response to this article an Amazon UK spokesman said: “We have very high standards for the delivery service providers we work with and we’re investigating."
