A Rowhedge teacher turned author will launch her debut book in four countries next week.

On August 6, Michelle Auton's debut publication, What Happy Teachers Do, aims to enhance teachers' wellbeing as they navigate classroom challenges.

The educational veteran has been teaching for 25 years and serving as assistant headteacher at St Lawrence Church of England Primary School in Rowhedge.

Ms Auton said: "I submitted a book proposal after attending a Hay House writers’ workshop in 2022 and I was one of two people who won a publishing contract as a result."

She spent a year finalising the book, expressing pride and excitement that it's now available online and in bookshops.

The book draws on Ms Auton's experience as a "mindfulness-based stress reduction teacher", an "Emotional Freedom Technique tapping practitioner", and her classroom experiences.

She added: "Teaching is a wonderful profession but there can be lows as well as highs, and I have included numerous strategies and techniques to help teachers when they are feeling stressed, overwhelmed or exhausted."

What Happy Teachers Do is being published in the UK, United States of America, Australia and India.

It's available for purchase at Red Lion Books in Colchester and online retailers including Waterstones.
