FORMER Colchester United loanee Tariqe Fosu has joined League One side Northampton Town on a one-year contract.

The 28-year-old attacker has linked up with the Cobblers, after spending last season on trial in the MLS and training with former club Charlton Athletic.

Northampton boss Jon Brady told the club's website: "Tariqe has a lot of ability and quality and we are really pleased to welcome him to Sixfields.

"He has pace and is very good on the ball and has the ability to play in a number of positions across the pitch.

"He has played a lot of his football at Championship level and his pedigree speaks for itself.

"Tariqe is a creative, attacking player and we think he is someone who can help take us forward and as such we are sure all supporters will join us in welcoming him to the club."

Fosu scored five goals in 33 league appearances for Colchester, during his eight-month stint at the club on loan from Reading, in the 2016-17 season.

He enjoyed an impressive finale to his loan spell at the U’s under John McGreal and finished the campaign with three goals, in his final two games.

Since then, he has played for the likes of Charlton Athletic, Stoke City and Rotherham United.
