COUNCILLORS have been doing their bit in the hot weather, with a big clean-up taking place on Sunday (August 11) along with community-minded residents.
City councillors for St Anne's and St John's – Paul Smith, Natalie Sommers and Catherine Spindler - took to the streets in Goring Road, Barnardiston Road, Barkstead Road and The Causeway to blitz litter.
They also cut back overgrown trees and weeded between Goring Road and Alderton Road.
Earlier in the week, councillors Catherine Spindler and Mick Spindler (Shrub End ward) cleared between Broadlands Way and Ipswich Road.
Litter which was too large to pick up was reported to neighbourhood services for collection along with the many bags of litter collected.
Pot holes were also reported to Essex Highways.
Mrs Spindler said: “It was fantastic to see members of the community joining in and a huge thank you to one resident who provided the hot workers with bottled water.”
Mrs Sommers added: “There will be more clean up days coming up in St Anne’s and St John’s over the next few weeks and months, so keep an eye on social media for the details.”
