A PENSIONER has died after a crash on the A120, Essex Police has confirmed.

Officers were called to the A120 near Coggeshall, shortly after 2.40pm on yesterday, August 13, following a crash involving a lorry and a car.  

The road was closed in both directions between Marks Tey and Marks Farm roundabout whilst investigative enquiries were carried out.

Police have now confirmed the driver of a car, a 70-year-old woman, died at the scene.

No arrests have been made.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "One ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, three Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles and an ambulance officer vehicle were called to Coggeshall Road (A120) yesterday afternoon following reports of a serious road traffic collision.


"Sadly, despite the best efforts of all involved, a woman died at the scene."

Detectives investigating the fatal crash are now appealing for witnesses as part of the investigation.

A spokesman said: "We continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed anything or have any dashcam footage to contact us."
