CONOR Wilkinson has left Colchester United after his contract with the club was terminated by mutual consent.
The 29-year-old forward did not feature in pre-season for the U’s and made only eight substitute appearances since joining Colchester on an 18-month deal from Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, last January.
Colchester head coach Danny Cowley told the club's website: "Conor is a decent footballer, but sometimes the fit isn't quite right between the player and the club and we have to do what's in the best interests of not just the club, but the player himself.

"We wish Conor the very best in his future career, and thank him for the hard work and effort he put in last season in his time with us."
Wilkinson started his career at Millwall before joining Championship side Bolton Wanderers.
After four years with Bolton, he had spells at Gillingham, Leyton Orient and Walsall before joining Motherwell in the summer of 2023.
Wilkinson made 19 league and cup appearances for Motherwell before joining Colchester, in January.
