A TRAIN passenger who tried to dodge paying a train fare has been ordered to pay £117.50.
Richard Newman was travelling from Witham to Braintree in August last year when he failed to pay the £5.60 rail fare.
He was brought to court last Wednesday and admitted the charge before magistrates in St Albans.
Newman, of Gainsborough Road, Colchester, was ordered to repay the £5.60 cost of the ticket and was fined £80.
He must also pay a further £32 in costs.
Newman, 27, must pay the total of £117.60 by the end of September.
