A housebuilder has adopted Colchester Zoo's Colombian black spider monkeys.

Dandara's sponsorship will aid the zoo and the Colchester Zoological Society in their conservation efforts in the UK and around the world.

The independent housebuilder's support will help the zoo in its mission to boost awareness about the significance of conservation.

Gemma Bannister, sales director at Dandara Eastern, said: "It is brilliant to be able to support Colchester Zoo by adopting the Colombian black spider monkeys, which are classed as a vulnerable species.

"The zoo does such brilliant work in protecting and nurturing these vulnerable animals, as well as teaching future generations about the importance of conservation."

Colchester Zoo is home to more than 155 species, including Komodo dragons, white rhinos, giraffes, and zebras.

Melissa Dench, business development manager at Colchester Zoo, said: "It is exciting to partner with a local business and receive support from Dandara for the conservation work we do.

"As part of our mission we work to raise awareness of the importance of conservation and look after numerous endangered species that need our help.

"Since 2004, thanks to the support of sponsors and visitors, Colchester Zoological Society has donated over £4.2million to a broad spectrum of conservation projects worldwide.

"Together with kind visitors and sponsors like Dandara, we can do more and continue this vital work."
