A COLCHESTER nursery manager has spoken about the business's recent Ofsted report.
Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, in Maria Court, Colchester, has been rated good by Ofsted following its most recent inspection.
The report, published August 20, reveals the nursery has also been rated good in the categories of overall effectiveness, the quality of education, behaviours and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
Last year, Ofsted received was informed about a “complaint about childcare provision” at the nursery.
A document said that the watchdog “received concerns” the provider was not meeting certain legal requirements in the statutory framework for the early years foundation stage.
On June 23, 2023, a regulatory telephone call was carried out and Ofsted discovered the “provider was not meeting some of the requirements and had taken action to put this right”.
The provider took immediate steps to review and revise arrangements for the safe collection and arrival of children.
Staff have also received additional clarity about their roles and responsibilities to ensure children are appropriately supervised at all times.
Following another regulatory call on August 25, the nursery had reviewed their procedures on how they record and share information regarding children with known allergies and intolerances.
All staff received further training to ensure children consistently have dietary needs met.
Now, the nursery has been given a glowing report.
It said:” Children settle well and get involved in activities planned around their current interests.
“The atmosphere is calm and welcoming.
“Children chat with each other as they play with the trains or engage in play dough activities together.
“Children confidently approach new people, demonstrating that they feel safe and secure in the setting, staff are positive in their interactions with children.”
Kiddi Caru Day Nursery leaders have a “clear and ambitious vision” and “strive to deliver high-quality care and education.”
Staff further work closely with agencies to support children with special education needs or disabilities.
The report also noted there is an “open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts children's interests first”.
