HOME Bargains threw open the doors of its newest £1million Colchester branch this bank holiday weekend, and we went to take a look at what it has to offer.
Immediately upon entering the 36,000sq ft store are quick snack meals and drinks for on the go, with this wall cleverly shorter than the others to offer a view across the expansive store.
Stocking a wide range of homeware, health and beauty products, seasonal items, fresh and frozen food, and everything in between, it is no wonder this bank holiday saw queues stretching almost halfway across the store.
Each aisle is wide enough for three trolleys to pass, so shoppers can enjoy plenty of space while perusing the store without too much trolley traffic.
There were at least five aisles dedicated to seasonal stock, so those shopping for Halloween decorations, clothes, pumpkin carving kits and more can begin to do so, and those excited for Christmas can enjoy a glittering wall of baubles and giant sweet decorations.
However, there was still an aisle dedicated to summer products with disposable barbecues, ice cube trays and party decorations, as well as summer sports, games, and outdoor paddling pools.
Home Bargains fans know how brilliant the store is for budget homeware shopping, and this store’s vast selection is no exception.
Classic and stylish bedding sets can be found from just £20, with a colourful selection of pillows, cushions, blankets and more.
Mirrors and home décor can also be found in abundance with storage solutions and household items organised in the appropriate isle for the bathroom, living room, or kitchen.
This store uniquely features a bakery and café to its left side, which don’t stop with the bargains and offer regular coffees for just £1.49, hot rolls for £1.99, and a selection of bargain pastries, baguettes, donuts and more.
There’s also an aisle dedicated for school and university shoppers, and the store’s position on Lightship Way on the doorstep of the University of Essex’s Quays accommodation is bound to see lots of student visitors.
It’s also situated right on the bus routes of 74, 87, S1 and 74B busses, with plenty of car parking space for people travelling from far and wide for the brilliant bargains.
It’s easy to see why the store was so busy on its opening weekend, and it’s bound to see lots of success.
