A PEDESTRIAN is in a "life threatening condition" after a serious crash as a police investigation has been launched into the incident.
The crash took place along Hatfield Road in Witham, last Tuesday, August 20, at about 3.15am.
Police say the van was travelling away from Witham, towards Hatfield Peverel, at the time of the incident.
Officers and ambulance service colleagues attended and found a pedestrian, a man aged in his 20s, had suffered serious injuries.
He remains in hospital in a "life-threatening condition", the force has said.
Police added that the driver of the van stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.
An investigation has since been launched.
A spokesman said: "We’re appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or the moments leading up to it, to get in touch.
"Anyone with information should contact us as soon as possible."
