A CAR boot sale is a must-go event for many people, both those looking for a bargain and those looking to sell their belongings.

I am definitely one of those people and am a frequent car boot sale buyer but not often a seller - which I was very looking forward to.

Over the bank holiday weekend, I, along with my dad and my brother looked through the loft and our rooms for things to sell - items we no longer needed but had served us well.

We packed everything in the van and set off to the Colchester Park and Ride Car Boot Sale, just off the A12 in Cuckoo Farm Way, and arrived at 7am.

Then we started unpacking everything from the car - clothes, toys, Lego, home decorations and so much more... items we had so many memories with but we were now ready to pass on to someone else.

My first two items sold were my old Messi Barcelona kit and an England jacket which I sold for £5 each - the man bought them while we were still setting up.

Although I knew this would happen - I saw the man reselling the items for more at his own stall - however, he didn't manage to sell them on the day.

I sold about seven items of clothing - ranging from tops to old football kits to jeans - for £1 and £2, which I was happy with - just glad to be making room in my wardrobe.

I also managed to sell around four items of jewellery, some of my old plushies and toys and even some old decorations all for £1 to £4.

My brother was selling Lego figures for £2.50 and my partner was selling Pop figures for prices between £2 for those out of the box and £5 to £15 for those in the box.

We saw hundreds of customers and managed to get rid of the bulky items - the coffee table, bikes, hoodies and picture frames - which saved us from taking them home.

We did have a sneaky look around at other stalls and even treated ourselves to a nice hot dog and some chips.

Things started slowing down around 11am and we decided to pack up and go home.

In total, I made around £30 and my dad made around £25.

My brother made approximately £75 selling these Lego figures and my partner made about £25 for selling the Pop figures.

We were all very happy with the money made at the car boot and the space made at home.

I would recommend selling (and buying) at a car boot because it is an easy way to make room in your home and to get a little bit of extra cash.
