A COLCHESTER bar is set to host an Oasis tribute act just one week after the band confirmed its reunion... but this gig was planned months ago.

Coda, in Colchester's High Street, will be welcoming Oasis Only, a tribute to the Gallagher brothers, to the stage this Friday.

Tristan Clarke, co-owner of Coda, assures the concert was planned coincidentally in time with the official reunion and was not a perfectly planned prediction.

He said: "The gig was planned all the way back in January.

"We knew that Oasis would eventually get back together at some point, but the timing was just pure coincidence."

Oasis announced it would be getting back together on August 27, making it 16 years since the band split.

Tickets for shows in London, Dublin, Manchester, Cardiff and Edinburgh, went on sale on Saturday and saw millions of people in line for the tickets.

Despite the excitement, millions of fans were left disappointed with not being able to get tickets when they went on sale on Saturday.

Various ticket-selling websites struggled with traffic online and on Ticketmaster, the cost of some tickets even rose to more than £350 - up from £135 when the sale began on Saturday.

Some fans who missed out have turned to tribute bands and DJs to get their Oasis fix, with Coda being another great place to celebrate the return of Britpop legends.

Tristan also confirms the bar has seen more ticket sales after Oasis confirmed the reunion.

Tristan said: "Ticket sales are going well.

"We are hoping to sell out and there’s definitely been a bigger interest in the event because of the reunion.

"Tickets are only a tenner so it’s absolutely worth it."

Oasis Only will be supported by Matt Selley, part of Stereophonies, a Stereophonics tribute band.

Doors open at 7pm and the band will begin performing at 8pm.

Tickets cost £9 plus a booking fee.
