CHRISTMAS is coming to Colchester Castle with a host of fantastic exclusive events for families.

There may be 108 days to go until Christmas Day but Colchester is already preparing for the festive season.

Colchester Council has announced a number of Christmas-themed events which will take place inside the Norman Keep.

Throughout December, the castle will be hosting a variety of magical festive events to delight visitors of all ages.

One of the highlights is the grotto experiences with Father Christmas.

This includes a chance for little ones to meet Father Christmas, step inside the Starlight Grotto, and a special nursery grotto experience tailored for younger visitors.

In the Meet Father Christmas experience, children will have the opportunity to meet Santa himself along with his elves in the magical Castle Grotto.

Set against a backdrop of seasonal decorations, this visit also includes a special gift for every child. Tickets are priced at £10 per child.

The Starlight Grotto is a new twist on the classic favourite, where Father Christmas and his helpers will welcome the children of Colchester with their families into a beautifully illuminated setting within the castle.

Children will get a chance to speak with Father Christmas before the whole family can tuck into a delicious hot chocolate or mulled wine, topped off with a sweet mince pie or cookie.

Tickets are available at £12 for children and £5 for adults.

The Nursery Grotto has been specially designed for nursery and pre-school groups wherein the calm and welcoming environment will allow the youngest visitors to meet Father Christmas, listen to festive stories, and enjoy playful activities led by Santa's helpers.

The cost is £6.50 per child, with a group size limited to a maximum of 30 children.

Additionally, the castle will host An Evening with Father Christmas, a fun-packed event featuring crafts, games, and festive treats. Tickets for this exclusive event are priced at £20 for children and £10 for adults.
